Has Our Fire Gone Out?
Are we telling the lost world about Jesus?
Or is our fire smoldering and about to go out?
Have we neglected so great a salvation?
Has someone poured water on us and replaced our spark with fear and doubt?
Is it suffocating? Maybe a little blow from the Holy Spirit will make it reignite.
We are in a spiritual battle, it’s a really desperate fight,
The devil wants to hold onto his prey, and hold on tight
But his power is not unlimited, he’s no match for the light.
Still he tries to gain an entrance and tries to gain the right
To steal and kill and destroy everything in sight.
Has our fire gone out?
Or are we willing to say like Job did, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him”?
Or are we willing to say, as Esther did, “If I perish, I perish”
when she went before the king,
It was her decision to go without being asked,
Which could have cost her her life, and fast,
But the king held out his scepter and listened to her request
And in the end many lives were saved because of her behest
She was willing to stand up and speak up for the lost and their plight
She was brave enough to make a difference and make the wrongs all right
And the accuser of her brethren was the one who was killed along with all his sons
Because he tried to do away with God’s people, he was impaled on the pole instead
His own dreadful treatment of the Jews brought death and judgment on his own head.
What are we willing to do to fight the good fight?
May we not pretend we don’t see, may we respond with love inside
May we put down our pride and walk side by side with Jesus
The one who calls us to tell the world that He died for all of us.
May we stand on the rock who is our fortress and our deliverer
Everything else is shifting sand, may we all take a stand for Jesus.
May we be His hands and His feet, may we all take it to the streets.
Our enemy is a defeated foe, so let’s go, go, go and sew, sew, sew those Gospel seeds,
And get as many people as we can, a little closer to Jesus.
